Transport infrastructure construction company Eurovia has been awarded a €80m ($87.23m) contract to deliver the second phase of a tramway system upgrade project in Kosice, Slovakia. 

The contract involves purchase of new rolling stock and renovation of existing infrastructure along the 33km tramway route, which includes 15 urban and outlaying stations and 449 structures.

"Works will begin in the last quarter of 2016 and are expected to take two years to complete."

It will also include replacement of tracks, modernisation of electrical systems, light-signalling devices, tramway and bus platforms, and installation of new passenger information system and video monitoring security system.

Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) has appointed wireless microphone systems manufacturer Mipro to provide and operate the management solution of spare parts for rail signalling equipment.

Under the six year-contract, which is extendable for two more years, Mipro will offer Cloud-based software solution to support all maintenance organisations and signalling equipment providers along the Finnish national rail network.
