Bombardier Transportation has opened a new Kuala Lumpur (KL) hub in Malaysia, in a bid to support the rail projects in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region.
This new centre will be home to more than 100 engineering, project management, systems integration and signalling specialists. With this investment, Bombardier aims to support the development of Malaysia’s rail industry and increase high-value employment in Kuala Lumpur.
Bombardier Transportation systems division president Pierre Attendu said: "Bombardier is committed to meeting Malaysia’s public transport needs with cutting-edge mass transit solutions. This investment strengthens our ability to meet customer needs and ensures that we are well prepared to deliver upcoming projects in the Asia-Pacific region."
The company has delivered projects in Malaysia that include the Kelana Jaya LRT automated people mover system at the KL International Airport, as well as the KL Sri Petaling and Ampang Lines.
Ongoing projects nearing completion include the Bombardier CITYFLO 650 communications-based train control solution for the new 51km Klang Valley mass rapid transit Line 1.
Bombardier is also supplying linear induction rail for the 17km extension to the Kelana Jaya line and delivering the mid-life overhaul of the original 210-car fleet.
