Bombardier Transportation has secured a 30-year contract from Mosaic Transit Partners Maintenance GP (MTM) to provide maintenance services for the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Toronto.

Finch West LRT project is a public private partnership (PPP) of Mosaic Transit Group, Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx.

The contract requires Bombardier to offer maintenance services for a fleet of light rail vehicles and wayside track.

Furthermore, it will also look after the overhead catenary system assets for the new LRT line.

The new LRT line is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

Earlier, Mosaic had secured the contract to design, construct, finance and maintain the new LRT line, which will be fully integrated with the city’s current transit system.

Bombardier will work as a subcontractor for MTM, a joint venture of ACS Infrastructure and AECON.

Bombardier Transportation Americas Region president Elliot G. Sander said: “We are delighted to be part of the team that is expanding mobility options for the citizens of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

“We bring our deep understanding of transportation in the GTHA region and our extensive experience as a provider of mobility solutions and participant in PPPs to ensure that Finch West LRT will provide the same high level of safe, efficient and reliable transportation as the rest of the Metrolinx network.”

In addition, as part of TransEd O&M Partners GP, Bombardier will maintain the fleet and wayside systems for the Toronto Eglinton Crosstown Line.

The company will also offer turnkey operations and maintenance services for the new Edmonton Valley Line in Alberta.

Recently, Bombardier Transportation signed a framework agreement with the UK rolling stock company Porterbrook to install digital onboard signalling in Bombardier Electrostar trains in the UK.
