Bombardier’s Chinese joint venture has secured a new contract worth CNY1.6bn ($248m) to build 112 new standard high-speed train cars for China’s high-speed rail network.
According to the contract, Bombardier Sifang Transportation (BST) will build the CR300AF high-speed train car, which can operate at a maximum speed of 250km/h.
These cars will be configured into 14 eight-car trainsets, ten of which are for Fujian Fuping Railway. The remaining trainsets will be placed at the Guangdong Meizhou-Shantou Passenger Dedicated Line.
All 112 cars are scheduled to be delivered by January next year.
Bombardier Transportation China president Jianwei Zhang said: “We are honoured to have been chosen to supply the new generation of high-speed railway CR300AF trains, through our BST joint venture. We sincerely thank China Railway for its trust and CRRC for its support. We will deliver the state-of-the-art trains at quality, within budget and on time.”
This latest order is BST’s first contract for CR300AF, which is said to be the new generation of high-speed trains.
BST was first selected by the China Railway in 2018 to deliver Chinese standard high-speed train cars.
According to the company, it has so far supplied a total of 448 350km/h CR400AF and CR400AF-A cars to China Railway.
Last year, BST won a $357m contract from China Railway for the maintenance of 656 high-speed train cars or 71 trains, which were previously manufactured by the company.
Established in 1998, BST is jointly owned by CRRC Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock and Bombardier.
