TagMaster, the innovative developer of advanced RFID solutions for wireless communication systems, has been selected by Bombardier Transportation to provide RFID products to their rapid transit project on the Neihu line in Taipei, Taiwan.

TagMaster Heavy Duty RFID readers will be mounted onboard the driverless rubber-tire light rail vehicle to provide accurate positioning to the CITYFLO650 automatic train control system. As the vehicle must know its location at all times, the RFID system gives the absolute location to the control system. This is especially important at stations where the vehicle has to stop at an exact position to align with the station platform doors. The system also includes stationary track-side mounted readers for automatic identification of the passing vehicles.

The project involves equipping over 150 light rail vehicles with Heavy Duty readers and over 60 locations with standard readers. With this project TagMaster has developed a specialized high-speed tag according to Bombardier’s requirements.

”Based on the high standards of the TagMaster RFID system and TagMaster’s ability to meet our needs for customization it was easy to make the decision to integrate TagMaster’s compact readers and tags with our CITYFLO650 system in the Taipei project.”, Joseph Ackerman, Senior Design Engineer of Bombardier Transportation.

“We are very pleased that Bombardier has selected TagMaster to install their 2,45 GHz alternative for positioning, and it is our expectation that this is the first of many projects that we will work on together with Bombardier. Once again, we demonstrate our ability to meet our customer’s needs for high performance RFID products in the railway industry.” replied Magnus Rehn, President of TagMaster AB.
