Oil Analysis Service (OAS) operates laboratories offering a comprehensive range of tests and analysis for electrical, machine, lubrication and hydraulic oils. The oils are analysed for the purpose of maintenance and fault diagnosis.

After working with customers from the power and rail industry, OAS has launched an online database and research tool to provide customers with access to both their current and historic oil analysis results instantly and anywhere in the world. Customers only need access to a computer or handheld WAP-enabled/web-accessible device such as a Blackberry or iPhone. As the facility was developed in conjunction with clients, it is client-focused and provides the following user advantages:

  • Historic data and reports permanently available and new results uploaded immediately after analysis
  • Clear layout with access to trending tools, graphs and histograms based around specific plant or tests
  • Colour coding and ‘traffic light’ system employed to make for easier data interpretation
  • Microscope screenshots and analysis available on-line
  • No specialist software needed on customer computers
  • True on-line/web based facility (not via VPN) available anytime, anywhere
  • Two-way live communication between laboratory and customer whereby all suggested actions and planned maintenance actions can be logged and updated on completion
  • Password protection and data security together with customer facility to grant different access levels to different staff
  • Facility for customers to ‘brand’ as their own and flexibility to alter layout to suit this
