KEYMILE Boosts Functionality of its XMP1-LCC and XMP1-SL Multiplexers
At this year’s CeBIT in Hanover, KEYMILE will showcase a range of innovations for the next-generation XMP1-LCC multiplexer and the compact XMP1-SL multiplexer which expand both systems’ applications considerably.
KEYMILE is one of the leading manufacturers of next-generation data transmission systems. The company has increased the functionality of the modular next-generation XMP1-LCC multiplexer and will present the greater range of uses for the first time at CeBIT in hall 12, stand C66.
The new PORT-STM unit provides an additional four STM-1/4 interfaces. As a result, up to eight STM-1/4 interfaces can be added to the existing four STM-1/4/16 interfaces.
The SDH interfaces on the PORT-STM are fully compliant with the ITU-T standard. These interfaces allow network operators to connect SDH rings and set up multiple rings (a maximum of two STM-16 rings and four STM-1/4 rings).
This function enables the XMP1-LCC to be used in central locations where several rings converge (such as metro lines), or as a backbone multiplexer which multiplexes traffic from rings in lower SDH hierarchies to higher ones.
It is also possible to set up a voice channel (engineering order wire, EOW) via each SDH interface to neighbouring SDH multiplexers.
The PORT L2 unit gives the XMP1-LCC the Ethernet-over-SDH functionality. This function allows simultaneous transmission of TDM signals and Ethernet services via an SDH backbone. Ethernet services and TDM signals are strictly separated and cannot interfere with each other.
The bandwidth that the Ethernet services can use is freely adjustable. Consequently, XMP1-LCC can transmit time-critical and packet-based signals through the same network within the transimission delay limits.
PORT L2 gives the user eight 10/100/1000 BaseT (RJ45) and four 10/100/1000 BaseTx (SFP) interfaces. These interfaces (WAN ports) are connected to an integrated IEEE 802.1Q-compliant switch. The switch supports VLANs, quality of service, rapid spanning tree and multiple spanning tree protocol.
Ethernet point-to-point connections with link-loss forwarding function are also supported. In this application, an external Ethernet interface is directly connected with an internal Ethernet-over-SDH interface.
With the new SL-LAN sub-module KEYMILE is also increasing the functionality of the compact XMP1-SL multiplexer. This provides two external 10/100-Ethernet ports and conducts Ethernet traffic via a VLAN-compatible Ethernet switch to two WAN-Ports that are Ethernet-over-PDH capable.
The maximum bandwidth of each WAN port is adjustable in the range of n x 64kbit/s (1<=n<=31). The switch supports VLAN switching and tagging, as well as quality of service (QoS) based switching. With this function network operators can set up narrow-band Ethernet LANs that aggregate Ethernet traffic in the switch and transfer it to the backbone multiplexer.
Network operators can deactivate the switch and connect the Ethernet ports directly with the WAN ports. As a result, the Ethernet ports’ data streams do not interfere with one another and both data streams are strictly separated from one another. The SL-LAN sub-module is designed in such a way that it does not need a module slot in the XMP1-SL, so that in addition to the SL-LAN sub-module two more modules and an XMP1 subrack can be added.
The new units for XMP1-LCC and XMP1-SL can be ordered as of immediate effect.
