The Swiss specialists in industrial plug connectors present new systems for tough environments at the leading transport engineering trade fair in Berlin.

From 23-26 September, Multi-Contact will be presenting its robust plug connectors at InnoTrans in Berlin, and looks forward to interesting encounters with visitors to the fair. The event will be used to introduce a series of innovations developed specially for the rail industry, such as the latest addition to the modular CombiTacline, the CT-HE connector for plug-in systems that is suitable for use in harsh environments.

Any misalignment on plugging in is rectified so that the modules can easily be plugged in blind in locations with poor visibility. The new module is ideally suited for use in the monitoring of battery systems in rolling stock, for example. CombiTac enables modules with signal, data bus, fibre-optic, coaxial and power contacts up to 300A or 5kV, as well as thermo-elements and compressed-air couplings, to be combined within a compact system.

A further attraction for visitors will be the new modular power connector (MPC) with maximum nominal values of up to 3,600V and 700A, which is available with the highest level IP69 protection and now also with shielding. The MPC was developed for power transmission in the electrical power train of rolling stock. Areas of application include connecting transformers, traction motors, inverters, batteries and power connection between cars.

The third innovation, the new electrical grounding hinge (EGH), the world’s first electrical hinge for switch gear cabinet doors with integrated ground connection, appeals particularly to design engineers and those responsible for maintenance. The key attraction of this new product is that the specialists at Multi-Contact have positioned the electrical grounding within the body of the hinge, thereby avoiding the need for grounding strips on switch gear cabinet doors.

Another highlight is the new multi-pole connector for harsh environments, comprising 32 signal pins and an eight-pole bus connection in a robust housing with a solid handle. The plug connector guarantees reliable contact, even in adverse weather conditions, with strong vibrations and complies with safety class IP65 when closed. The system is designed for rated voltages of up to 1,000V and can be fitted accurately with various contacts, depending on the application.

Visitors to the fair will have the opportunity to examine the exhibits and talk to the experts from Multi-Contact in Hall 12, Stand 301, and Hall 10.2, Stand 201.
