Maccaferri Ltd, specialists in retaining structures, soil
reinforcement and erosion protection, will have a strong
presence at Civils 2007 (NEC, 11-13 June). In addition
to exhibiting at the show (Stand Number 12 C162) the
company is also co-presenting a technical seminar on the
use of polymeric and steel mesh reinforcement in road
pavements, together with Netherlands-based company
Colbond Geosynthetics.

Taking place at 12.30 on Tuesday 11th June, the seminar
will be presented by Nicholas Reck, Maccaferri, South
Africa – Road Pavements Business Unit Manager and Jan-
Maarten Elias, Soil Reinforcement Product Manager at
Colbond Geosynthetics. The presentation will focus on
the issues surrounding the types of reinforcing material
used in pavements and where to use which product within
the structure

Maccaferri has the exclusive distribution rights for
Colbond products in the UK and has worked with the
company for a number of years. Based on their joint
experience, the two presenters will outline a cohesive
design approach and clear methodology for resolving the
many issues faced in the design of reinforced sub and/or
super structures of pavements.

The theory will be supported by the most recent research results and will conclude with some thoughts on future developments in
this important aspect of pavement design.

Supporting the presentation, Maccaferri will also have a
stand at the exhibition. MacWall segmental blocks for
engineered retaining walls will be prominently featured,
together with a range of erosion protection products.

Colbond Geosynthetics, headquartered in the Netherlands,
is a supplier of quality products for civil engineering
applications. Based on polymer technology, these products
are used in drainage, erosion control, landfill
