Stadler has secured a nearly €100m contract from NordWestBahn, the German subsidiary of Transdev Group, to deliver 16 electrical multiple units (EMUs).
Under the terms of the contract, the rolling stock manufacturer will build and supply 16 FLIRT trains for use on the Bremen/Lower Saxony regional S-Bahn network.

Once delivered, the Transdev’s German fleet will include 118 FLIRT trains with different configurations and equipment.
Stadler Germany CEO Jure Mikolčić said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our constructive and successful cooperation with Transdev by supplying FLIRT trains for the Bremen region for the first time.
“We are very proud that Transdev, one of the largest rail transport companies in Germany, is once again opting for our tried and tested product and has awarded a new tender to Stadler after just a few months.”
The 86.9m-long trains to be delivered under the latest contract will comprise four cars each. They will have seven passenger doors on each side to enable swift passenger boarding.

By GlobalDataCapable of transporting 527 passengers, the FLIRT vehicles are equipped with 260 seats.
The EMUs are step-free and have large multi-purpose areas for transporting up to 30 bicycles, bulky luggage and prams.
Additionally, they are equipped with power outlets for charging e-bikes and have separate wheelchair places.
These FLIRT trains can run at a maximum speed of 160km per hour and are expected to begin commercial operations in December 2022.
Last month, Stadler secured €150m contract to deliver 26 additional FLIRT multiple units to Slovenian state rail operator Slovenske Železnice.
