The system will include a training scheme, incorporating the latest simulation technologies for routes, conditions and obstacles. It features a full-scale cabin model of the Alstom’s Metropolis S9000 train.

It will create a variety of realistic scenarios by leveraging virtual reality technology and help the operator to train its technicians in providing swift and effective resolution of incidents.

The objective is to train technicians to address any issue on the automated lines without halting usual services or perform power cuts on the lines.

Simulated incidents include train faults, signalling conditions, environmental incidents and passenger density among others.

The overall project works will be carried out by Alstom’s Services platform in conjunction with its local team in Barcelona.

Metro de Barcelona Lines 9 and 10 connects the city centre with other locations in the Barcelona metropolitan area and the airport.

The Metropolis trains that operate on the two lines are powered by an automatic driving system based on CBTC technology.

Recently, Alstom started the production of passenger electric locomotives Prima M4 KZ4AT at its Kazakhstan facility. The locomotives are being built for supply to Kazakhstan Railways.
