Simulation has become increasingly important as the complexity of signal systems increases. TRE has a suite of simulation tools that can be used in a wide variety of scenarios to including training and design validation to ensure that planned new and / or improved engineering works will deliver the desired system performance improvements.

TREsim provides an ideal basis for these applications and includes a uniquely engineered display system to support this process.

Simulation has become increasingly more important as the complexity and geographic area of control increase. TRE has a suite of simulation tools, under the TREsim name, that are used in a wide variety of scenarios for both staff training and to validate a signalling system. TREsim has been designed for simulating various signalling systems including but not limited to:

  • Integrated Electronic Control Centre (IECC)
  • Panels
  • Westinghouse Control and Display (WESTCAD)
  • Medium-capacity rail transport system (MCS)
  • Vehicle infrastructure control operating system (Vicos)
  • EBICOS

In addition to simulated signalling screens, TRE supply the appropriate hardware, including keyboards and all communications equipment.

For training purposes, an Assessor’s workstation can be used, allowing a large range of scenarios, including signal, track and train related failures, signals passed at danger (SPADs), train delays and cancellations to be created. Integrated into the TREsim systems are the appropriate Interlocking simulations including but not limited to:

  • Solid state interlocking (SSI)
  • Westlock
  • NSI-63 NSB-77
  • SIMIS-C
  • Westrace
  • Smartlock Relay

As well as an extremely powerful and flexible training tool, TREsim can also be used to investigate and validate signalling systems and timetables. Timetables can be downloaded using the TREtts timetable tool and then run on a TREsim Simulator to ensure they are workable and conflict free.
