Alstom has secured a €150m ($180m) contract from the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the supply of Metropolis trains.

The company is set to deliver 17 trains for operation along the North East Line (NEL) and Circle Line (CCL) under the contract.

A total of six trains, each featuring six metro cars, are to be deployed on the NEL, while the CCL will be served by 11 new trains comprising three metro cars each.

The contract also covers maintenance, training services and the provision of spare parts.

The new workshop is slated to be located at the Port of Rotterdam and is intended to enhance the availability of third-party fleets by offering maintenance services.

It will also be used to maintain MRCE’s Siemens Vectron locomotives.

The JV is anticipated to begin operations in 2019.

The notes are expected to yield an annual interest rate of 4.70%, until their maturation date in 2048.

Proceeds from the issuance will be used for loan repayments and other corporate purposes.

Brussels Intercommunal Transportation Company (STIB) has awarded a contract worth $586m to Bombardier Transportation for the supply of a total of 175 Flexity trams.

The framework contract includes a $206m first firm order, which covers the supply of an initial 60 units of the Flexity tram.

Bombardier will provide 49 five-car tram sets and 11 seven-car sets as part of the first firm order.

The deliveries are scheduled to begin in March 2020.
