Bombardier Transportation has secured a repeat order to supply 32 OMNEO Premium double-deck trainsets comprising 256 cars to the French National Railway Company, SNCF Mobilités.

The order forms part of the original $444m contract signed in 2010, which involved the delivery of 860 double-deck trains for deployment across France.

The new trainsets are expected to operate in the Centre-Val de Loire Region on the Paris-Orléans-Tours and Paris-Bourges et Paris-Montargis-Nevers lines.

Bombardier Transport France president Laurent Bouyer said: “This order of OMNEO Premium trains from the Centre-Val de Loire Region confirms the demand for spacious, modern, comfortable trains for intercity journeys.

“These trains from the OMNEO double-deck platform are designed and produced by Bombardier teams on our Crespin site in the Hauts-de-France Region.”

Bombardier is scheduled to begin delivery of the trains in 2020 and complete the handover by 2022.

The new OMNEO Premium train cars are set to operate at a speed of 200km/h and have been designed for long intercity journeys.

The vehicles feature a new interior design, newly developed wide seating with integrated lighting, power plugs and Wi-Fi.

In addition, the locomotives comprise large platform-level doors, as well as wide corridors and gangways to ensure easier boarding and facilitate movement within the train.

The vehicles feature a seating capacity of 373 seats in first and second class cars and are equipped with large baggage racks, dynamic passenger information screens and an additional area for wheelchairs and bicycles.

Almost 373 OMNEO platform trains, comprising Regio 2N and OMNEO Premium units, have been delivered to ten regions in France to date.
