TRAXX Diesel Multi-Engine locomotives

Bombardier Transportation has agreed to supply 15 Bombardier TRAXX Diesel Multi-Engine locomotives to Germany-based Paribus-DIF-Netz-West-Lokomotiven (Paribus-DIF). in a deal worth €60m.

A contract to this effect was signed by Bombardier Transportation and Paribus-DIF.

The scope of the contract also includes an option of up to five additional locomotives.

Paribus-DIF was selected by the Landesverkehrsgesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein (LVS) to lease the locomotives to an operator selected by the LVS.

The TRAXX Diesel Multi-Engine locomotives will be delivered in 2015 and will be used as transport passenger trains from Hamburg to Westerland and Sylt.

The multi-engine locomotives will be produced at Bombardier’s Kassel plant in Germany.

Car bodies will be produced at Bombardier’s Wroclaw site in Poland and the bogies at its Siegen site in Germany, while the propulsion and controls will be manufactured at its Mannheim and Hennigsdorf sites, in Germany.

The locomotives are equipped with four Caterpillar C18 engines, which are controlled individually to maximise energy-efficiency.

Bombardier TRAXX Diesel Multi-Engine locomotives are compliant with the Stage IIIB emission standards.

The locomotives are powered by Bombardier MITRAC traction converters, which offer energy-efficient traction power for sustainable mobility.

Paribus-DIF-Netz-West-Waggon has also signed an additional service contract worth €5m for the adaption of modern control electronics in cab cars.
