Virgin Trains commercial operations director Peter Broadley said: "Clean, reliable and comfortable trains are crucial to delivering the amazing experience our customers expect and Bombardier are critical suppliers in delivering this."

The contract follows after the UK Department for Transport awarded a contract on 19 June to Virgin Trains to continue operating the West Coast Main Line.

The fleet of 20 Super Voyager trains that operate on West Coast main line are currently maintained by Bombardier from its Central Rivers depot in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, as well as other outstations across the network.

Bombardier has a new-build train manufacturing factory in Derby, UK, as well as approximately 1,600 service employees based at 23 customer locations and sites to ensure optimum reliability, efficiency and longevity for their fleets.
