Argentina’s national rail operator has awarded a contract to Indra to provide access control and ticketing technology across the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (BAMA) rail network.

Valued at €35m, the contract will see the company equip eight lines with 1,400 ticket gates and 170 disabled entrances at 200 stations.

The company will also supply 200 top-up machines for contactless SUBE cards, 150 on-board validators, 230 platform validators, 160 station in-station transaction hubs and 300 journey inspection terminals.

The contract will also cover system maintenance for a period of two years.

Indra will develop a monitoring and control solution to compile information from a number of different subsystems, which will enhance service management with accelerated fare collection and better passenger control.

Indra’s transport and urban mobility technology is currently being used in London, Medellin, Mexico City, Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Plovdiv, Wroclaw, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait and Manila.
