Israeli government-owned company TEL AVIV Metropolitan Mass Transit System (NTA) has invited bids for the operation and maintenance of the Red Line.

The 23km line is comprised of at-grade sections at both ends in addition to a 11.5km central underground section. Comissioning and operation is expected to start in 2021.

It will carry 70 million passengers a year, with links from NTA’s mainline station in Petah Tikva to Bnei Brak, Jaffa, and Bat Yam. It will have 34 stations, 24 overground and 10 underground.

The operations and maintenance contract is set to run for a period of ten years from the launch of passenger services and can be extended for another six years.

Bidders are invited to submit proposals and the winner will provide scheduled passenger services, protect fare collection and revenue, and maintain infrastructure and facilities.

They will also manage and oversee rolling stock maintenance agreement works, hit service targets, and cooperate with a security contractor, which will be appointed by NTA.
