GE Transportation has purchased ShipXpress, a Cloud-based software solutions provider that helps railways operate smoothly with supply chain partners.

The acquisition has helped GE Transportation expand its digital railway portfolio into the logistics chain, allowing the company to provide new services for freight shippers.

The deal has also enabled GE Transportation to expand its information and transaction offerings for railways.   

With the deal, the company will add around 200 technical and software development experts to its workforce.

As well as railways, GE provides equipment, services and solutions to the mining, marine, stationary power and drilling industries.
