GE Transportation president and CEO Jamie Miller said: "Our partnership delivers the most advanced connectivity across the rail industry to create a smarter rail ecosystem.

"This platform enhancement to GoLINC mobile data centre lowers costs by reducing the amount of data transferred over cellular connections."

"It enables operators to transfer data, host applications and interface with third-party systems, and can boost operational productivity."

Through this connectivity, GoLINC will create a Predix-edge-enabled device.

The platform will also allow for better data management and video analytics on the locomotive, and enables creation and deployment of future technologies.
