Bombardier Transportation Poland chief country representative Janusz Kucmin said: "As we're investing in a new state-of-the-art car body production hall, we're developing our employees' skills, as well as the capabilities of our Wroclaw site.

“We expect to partner more closely with Poland to further equip the country with our broad and performing portfolio of rail solutions."

At 190,300m², the company’s Panstwowa Fabryka Wagonow (PAFAWAG) site in Wroclaw produces new car bodies, as well as bogie frames for various railway vehicles.

"The site is the oldest rolling-stock factory in Europe."

Recently, the site produced Bombardier Traxx locomotives, which operate in Poland, Europe, as well as in North American markets.

Car bodies for the new commuter trains for Hamburg (S-Bahn) were also produced at the site.

So far, Bombardier has produced almost 2,400 locomotive car bodies and more than 16,000 bogie frames from its Wroclaw site.

The site is the oldest rolling-stock factory in Europe. In 2001, Bombardier acquired the site where production initially began in the 1830s.
