Luxembourg-based rolling-stock leasing company Alpha Trains has purchased ten new Vectron Multisystem locomotives.

The company bought first two locomotives from Siemens and they were directly handed over to its lessee, TX Logistik.

Both locomotives were built and handed over at the Siemens manufacturing plant located in Munich-Allach, Germany.

TX Logistik chairman Mirko Pahl said: “With ten new Vectrons we are taking a new generation of traction to the railway network. The multisystem locomotives are interoperable and can be used flexibly on our core corridors between Padborg and Verona.

“The positioning of TX on the north-south-axis is further strengthened as a result.”

The Vectron MS locomotives are capable of travelling up to 160km/h and have an output of 6,400 kW. They are used to transport goods on the return route between Germany, Austria and Italy.

Locomotives are equipped with country-specific transaction, and the European Train Control System (ETCS).

Eight further Vectron MS are planned to be delivered in three phases this year, and will also enter operation with TX Logistik.

Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane’s subsidiary Mercitalia Group has completely owned TX Logistik since January.
