The Government of Queensland in Australia has shortlisted a number of companies for the contract to develop the Cross River Rail infrastructure project, which have been selected from a list of ‘Expressions of Interest’ applications.

Queensland Acting Premier Jackie Trad said that the companies have been shortlisted for the project’s two major works packages following a comprehensive assessment of all Expressions of Interest by the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority.

A consortium comprising Pulse, Qonnect and CentriQ Partnerships has been shortlisted for the ‘The Tunnel, Stations and Development’ (TSD) work package under a public-private partnership.

In addition, River City Alliance and Unity Alliance were shortlisted for the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) package.

"Cross River Rail is a transformational project that will unlock the bottleneck at the core of our transport network and increase its capacity to deliver ‘turn-up-and-go’ public transport."

Trad said: “Cross River Rail is a transformational project that will unlock the bottleneck at the core of our transport network and increase its capacity to deliver ‘turn-up-and-go’ public transport.

“It will also generate 7,700 jobs during construction and stimulate decades of economic development opportunities right across South East Queensland.”

All shortlisted companies will now be required to prepare detailed bids that demonstrate innovative solutions.

The consortia selected from these shortlists will subsequently build the project upon completion of the assessment process.

The Expressions of Interest process was originally initiated in September last year, while the evaluation of applications began in November the same year.

Cross River Rail is a 10.2km-long rail line connecting Dutton Park and Bowen Hills, which includes a 5.9km twin tunnel under the Brisbane River and Brisbane central business district.

The project will see four new underground stations constructed at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street, while two existing overground stations at Dutton Park and the Exhibition will also be redeveloped.

Cross River Rail is anticipated to integrate with the proposed Brisbane Metro services upon completion.
