Ranger 3D camera

The Ranger is an advanced camera for 3D vision integrators and scanner manufacturers. It features high flexibility, unsurpassed 3D measurement speed, and MultiScan functionality.

The camera uses laser triangulation to measure an object’s height, shape and volume. It can use this data to locate shape defects or make quality gradings. In addition to measuring 3D, the Ranger can simultaneously measure other object features, such as grayscale, gloss, and scatter. Hence, using a single camera, several different aspects of an object can be observed to enable more robust decision making.

The Ranger is offered in several different versions. High-performing cameras can acquire up to 35,000 3D profiles every second, and grayscale data resolution in MultiScan can reach up to 3,072 pixels. For price-sensitive applications, cameras with pure 3D functionality and speeds of up to 1,000 profiles per second are available.

The camera can be optimised for large and small applications by selecting appropriate lenses and external light sources.

The Ranger system can be uniquely calibrated to deliver accurate 3D data in millimeters or inches. The camera can send measurement data to a hosting PC via a high-speed communication interface; variants for both CameraLink and Gigabit Ethernet are available.

Application development is made in a C or C++ programming environment or with the use of 3rd party image analysis software.
