DC15 from MEN Micro

US-based embedded computing and I/O solutions provider MEN Micro is offering a flexible panel PC that is reliable and easy-to-use in harsh railway human machine interface (HMI) applications.

The new DC15 features a large 10.4in LCD display and comes with either 32 illuminated front keys or a projective, capacitive touchscreen.

The company offers these solutions for mission-critical industrial, mobile and harsh environment applications.

UIC 612 is a standard for driver machine interfaces in railway applications, and the compact panel PC has an IP65-rated housing that protects the electronics across the extended temperature range between -40°C and 70°C.

"The DC15 reliably monitors and displays train functions to optimise speed, as well as manage a full fleet of vehicles."

For HMI railway applications, the DC15 reliably monitors and displays train functions to optimise speed, as well as manage a full fleet of vehicles.

Optical bonding can increase weather-resistance and the display’s high-illumination ensures exceptional readability, even in direct sunlight, according to the company.

The panel also features a buzzer, LEDs and light sensors, which help in alerting the driver to potentially hazardous situations, contributing to safer train operation.

The compact housing accommodates the impact-resistant XGA TFT LCD display, which features LED backlighting, a resolution of 1024px x 768px and anti-glare safety glass.

The maintenance-free, fanless DC15 reliably operates in extreme conditions and as standard, it is controlled by a powerful, energy-efficient AMD Embedded G-Series processor.

The DC15 also includes a multitude of standard communication I/O including two Ethernet, a USB, an audio, a GPIO and a serial interface, which are all available through rugged M12 connectors on the rear panel.

The system also has a PCI Express Mini Card slot (or alternatively M.2) and µSIM slots at the back for wireless communication, such as GSM, UMTS, LTE and GPS.

Flexible connection to the rail network is easily accomplished through universal methods such as a CAN or multifunction vehicle bus (MVB) interface.

The company said that the display supports Windows and Linux, and can be either panel or top mounted, meeting VESA 100 requirements.
