Indian Railways has launched a real-time train information system (RTIS) through which passengers can access accurate train running information.
The Rs1bn ($20m) RTIS system will provide information about the location of the train, running position, next stop, nearest approaching / crossed station and its speed.
Passengers can also get information about the trains through the website and SMS.
The system is currently deployed in six pair of trains during the first phase.
Full implementation of the system is expected to be completed by December 2012.
