The French Government and Alstom have presented the progress made for railway maintenance and industrial activities at the company’s Belfort site.

Alstom stated that diversification of the site will continue, specifically services and maintenance activities. The company has invested €1m since October last year in development of a new industrial building for maintenance.

Alstom chairman and CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge said: "In line with the commitments made on 4 October, Alstom is investing in the creation of a European centre of excellence for maintenance in Belfort.

“This is reflected in the implementation of several Alstom investments, including the reconstruction of a test track on the site announced last week."

This month, the state, local authorities, SNCF Réseau and Alstom signed a financing agreement to electrify the test track of the Belfort site.

"Alstom is investing in the creation of a European centre of excellence for maintenance in Belfort."

These latest investments are part of Alstom's plans to create a European locomotive maintenance centre in Belfort.
