CAF México has secured a €164m contract from Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (Mexico City Metro) to provide ten pneumatic tyred-trains for Line 1 in Mexico City.

This contract is part of Mexico City Metro's vehicle and infrastructure refurbishment programme. Delivery of the first units is scheduled for the first half of 2018. CAF México has been contracted to provide 30 electric units and part of the signalling systems.

In 2009, CAF México was awarded a 15-year service provision contract, which included the leasing of 30 metro units and comprehensive train maintenance for the entire term.

The company also provided vehicle supply and concession operation services to a passenger railroad transit project of the Buenavista-Cuautitlán commuter line in Mexico under a 50-year long deal.

Having served the Mexico City Metro since 1992, the company is also involved in various rail projects in the US, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Chile.
