Launch Set for VDE 8

The 500km-long Nürnberg-Berlin (VDE 8) project is scheduled for launch on 10 December.

This project shortens the travel time from Munich to Berlin by railway to only four hours.

The section Ebensfeld-Ilmenau (VDE 8.1) is a double-track electrified railway route for the high-ranking passenger and freight traffic with a length of approximately 66km and a maximum speed of 300km/h.

VCE carried out the track system in form of a ballastless track of the sections VDE 8.2 (in operation since 12/2015), VDE 8.1 Lot Centre and Lot South on a length of approximately 160km.

Services: Approval design, detailed structural design, as-completed drawings, participation in launching, bridge checks, noise protection design incl. foundation and noise assessment.

The new lines VDE 8.2 Erfurt–Leipzig/Halle, VDE 8.1 Lot 2 Mitte and VDE 8.1 Lot 3 Süd are standard-gauge, double-track electrified railway lines for high-speed passenger and freight traffic. They have a total length of 123km, 44km, and 22km.

The sections, as part of the traffic project German Unity No. 8 from Munich to Berlin, are newly equipped with a ballastless track.
