Modernisation works, which started in April 2017, required a complete line closure. Traffic was redirected on a detour and special buses.

Budimex carried out works at the Zamków rail yard, Barłogi station and the Barłogi route at the LCS Kutno border.

Budimex said it continued construction 24 hours a day to reduce the duration of these alternate routes. An 18km-long surface was built along the LCS Kutno by disassembling the existing track and ground reinforcement.

ZUE communications director Grzegorz Krzystański said: “Cooperation between companies from the consortium ran smoothly. We were all keen to finish our activities as soon as possible and reopen the route. Thanks to proper organisation and around-the-clock work, we put the track into operation on 9 June, one week before the contractual deadline.”
