The consortium will be involved in the development of a bi-directional, 18m-long railcar with seating for 56 passengers and standing room for an additional 60.

“Our investment in the Revolution VLR programme will provide further opportunities for growth within the industry.”

Revolution VLR will feature lightweight materials and a modular structure to ensure a tare weight of less than one tonne per linear metre, which will enable it to operate on lightweight modular slab track.

The vehicle will be equipped with regenerative braking and optimised hybrid propulsion, and is reported to be self-propelled and achieve zero-emission launches from stations.

Following its association, Eversholt Rail is expected to share its knowledge and expertise in light rail technologies, rolling stock through-life asset and project management with the consortium.
