Norwegian company Eltek has been selected to supply a range of power conversion products for phase two of the Nottingham Express Transit project (NET2) in UK.

Chosen by firms Blackburn Starling & Company and Harland Simon UPS, the project is expected to more than double the size of Nottingham’s tram network by the end of 2014.

Eltek will equip NET2 with INV222 inverters and static switches, as well as high efficiency, high-density 19in rack DC rectifier modules with smart controller, Flatpack2 integrated and standalone systems.

Eltek executive vice president Lars Dousa said that the project is a significant regional transit extension for UK’s Network Rail system.

"The rail industry is embracing modular, HE systems as a way to provide more reliable power for the network. Harland Simon is a great partner and we look forward to working with them over the course of this project," Dousa said.

Approved by Network Rail, Eltek’s power modules have been configured and programmed to provide the basis for both single and three-phase battery-backed uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, which service critical power applications throughout the tram network.
