Bombardier Transportation has secured a €27m contract from German railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB) to deliver seven TRAXX diesel multi-engine locomotives.
The contract forms a part of the company’s framework agreement with DB in 2011 for 200 TRAXX diesel multi-engine locomotives.

The trains will be operated on a 40km-long shuttle route to pull car shuttle trains between the island of Sylt and the German mainland.
DB Sylt shuttle head Alfred Onken said: "Our investment in new diesel locomotives demonstrates that we are strengthening our company for future transportation demands."
The first two TRAXX locomotives will be deployed at the end of 2015 and from mid-2016, will completely replace the old Class 218 trains.
The locomotives are equipped with four Caterpillar C18 engines, which are controlled individually in order to maximise energy efficiency.

By GlobalDataBombardier’s TRAXX diesel multi-engine locomotives are compliant with the Stage IIIB emission standards.
The locomotives are powered by Bombardier MITRAC traction converters, which offer energy-efficient traction power for sustainable mobility.
Bombardier president Ulrich Jochem said: "The TRAXX diesel multi-engine locomotive is particularly beneficial to the operator, both economically and ecologically, on short shuttle routes like this.
"It will contribute to relieving the stress on the island’s delicate ecosystem while residents will enjoy the reduced noise level of the new locomotives."
