It will deal with the rail freight between the port and eastern Denmark and southern Sweden, and also offer a feeder service to the terminals in Padborg and Taulov.

With this project, the Port of Esbjerg aims to strengthen the intermodal freight transport through better connectivity between road, rail and sea.

"The new terminal, which links the port with the rail network, includes two tracks and covers a total area of 48,000m²."

The terminal will have the capacity to provide space for three trains a day on the two terminal tracks, while the operator will have to develop customer-related measures and activities that support the development of the terminal.

The operator should be able to develop intermodal and multimodal services through both conventional and innovative tranship technologies, the port stated.
