UK’s rail infrastructure operator Network Rail is set to upgrade the Ashford Bowdler level crossing in Shropshire in a bid to improve safety at level crossings.
Under this project, the current half barriers of the level crossing will be replaced by full barriers.

This development is part of a £75m project to modernise the railway between Newport and Shrewsbury. This will also see the installation of new signalling technology along the route.
According to Network Rail, this decision to upgrade was taken following a consultation exercise with the local community. In addition to the upgrade option, the operator also explored the possibility of closing the crossing.
Network Rail operations risk adviser Christine Booth said: "There are a number of options available to improve safety, including upgrade and closure. It’s really important that the community have their say on the options and we will always take their views on board.
"After meeting with the community in Ashford Bowdler, we have decided upgrading the crossing is the best option to balance the need of improving safety with the concerns of local residents if the crossing was downgraded or closed."
