India’s Lucknow Metro Rail (LMRC) and Alstom have revealed future designs of its Metropolis trainsets.

They are part of a €150m order placed in September last year. The company requested 20 four-car locomotives and signalling for the city’s metro line.

The trains will have 186 seats and will include two dedicated zones for passengers with reduced mobility.

Its cars will be produced at Alstom’s Sri City and Coimbatore manufacturing plants in India, while the signalling system will be jointly supplied by the company’s sites in Bangalore, India, and Saint-Ouen in France.

LMRC has also awarded a Rs640m $9.6m contract to Datamatics Global Services (DGSL) and Mikroelektronika to provide an automatic fare collection (AFC) system for the city’s first metro line project.

Under the deal, the consortium will be responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, covering 22 metro stations in the project’s first phase.
