Alstom has secured a €800m ($881.84m) rolling stock supply contract from Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS).

The French rail transport company will deliver 79 Intercity New Generation trains to the Dutch national railway operator by January 2020. They will be designed and developed in Saint-Ouen in France and Salzgitter in Germany, then produced at Katowice in Poland.

The trains will be in operation on the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Breda line and the Den Haag-Eindhoven corridor.

CAF has been awarded a $183m contract to supply 18 six-car trains for the first Quito Metro line.

The contract was signed by Spain’s Instituto de Crédito Oficial and Ecuador’s Ministry of Finance.

The new trains will be operated on the 23km line of the Quito metro, which is expected to commence passenger services in 2019 in the Republic of Ecuador. These 109m trains will have four access doors per car and run at a top speed of 100km/h.

The contract also covers purchase of auxiliary vehicles, workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts.

Concord Corporation has been awarded an electrical installation services contract by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).

The services cover the Gold, Blue, and Green lines in phase I of Doha Metro. The QAR227m ($62.3m) contract covers engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning for part of a power distribution system package being supplied by MHI.

Construction is scheduled to commence in October 2016 and system trial tests are expected to begin by Q4, 2018.
