Software processing tools manufacturer Trimble has developed the new GEDO IMS System, the latest addition to its track survey and scanning rail portfolio.

Equipped with an inertial measurement unit (IMU), along with scanning and geodetic sensors, the new system can be used to survey railway lines and document all assets along the track.

The lightweight trolley system is flexible and offers accurate as-built survey documentation of the track.

The whole system comprises Trimble GEDO CE 2.0 Trolley System, Trimble GEDO IMU Unit, Trimble Tablet PC and the Trimble GEDO IMS Field and GEDO Office Software.

Ideal for single-crew operation, it also provides 3D point clouds for asset data collection along the track.

The GEDO IMS Field Software and the GEDO Office Software Suite aim to facilitate data flow between the location and office.

The operator can also combine the system with Trimble TX6 and TX8 laser scanners for mapping applications.

The GEDO IMS System is expected to be available from the final quarter of this year.
