Water-based paint and solvent-free coatings for the railway industry
Production is limited to water-based paint and solvent-free coatings, with production capacity of up to 700t a year.
CARGO-LAKK specialises in paint solutions for all applications within the railway industry. The company offers CARGOPUR, an elastic, solvent-free polyurethane coating that keeps elasticity down to -45°C.
The coating is usually applied in a thicker layer of 500 microns to 1,000 microns to protect the surface against stone chipping. Coatings can have additional layers of glass fibre fabric to increase impact-resistance.
Stone-chipping resistant coating
It is the objective of Cargo-Lakk to offer savings in the painting process and avoid waste.
The company produces CARGOPUR, an elastic, solvent-free polyurethane coating that keeps elasticity down to -45°C. The coating is usually applied in a thicker layer of 500 microns to 1,000 microns to protect the surface against stone chipping.
Coatings can have additional layers of glass fibre fabric to increase impact-resistance.
CargoPur can be fitted with a coating sensor system (CSS), a low voltage leak detection system that provide precise information about the location of a leak or break in the coating film.
CSS can also be applied on inner linings of rail tankers that transport hazardous chemicals.
Water-based epoxy, primers and topcoats
BAHNFARBE EP ST is a solvent-free coating for the interior lining of rail tankers, which can transport solid and liquid foodstuff in accordance to EU regulations.
The coating passed a designated migration test over ten days at 70°C at Oesterreichisches Forschungsinstitut (Ofi) in 2015.
BAHNFARBE EP DS 6:1 is an ideal paint system for coating freight wagons, including container transporters, cement wagons and wheels.
BAHNFARBE EP DS 6:1 is a water-based epoxy, primer and topcoat. The mixing ratio is 6:1 for the primer and topcoat, which is ideal for machine spraying.
The machine setting will remain constant when spraying the primer and topcoat. Due to one hardener, a single pump is needed for application.
It is one and the same hardener for primer, as well as topcoat.
Primers and coatings for passenger trains
CARGO-LAKK provides coatings for passenger trains, including exterior coatings such as primers, fillers, colour coat or coloured basecoat and clear coat. These are trading products produced by Mäder and are approved under European Fire Regulation EN 45545-2.
Interior coatings include PU-coatings with a structured or smooth surface. Coatings are suitable for maintenance and repair of existing surfaces.
The company also provides paint for bogies, which are available in water-based or high-solid versions.
Thermo-sensitive paint for wheels
CARGO-LAKK supplies thermo-sensitive paint (Bahnfarbe H) for wheels of freight wagons, which are equipped with conventional steel block brakes that can overheat if blocked.
The company offers interior coatings for rail tankers, which comprise a solvent-free, epoxy liner approved for transporting liquid and solid foodstuffs.
Exterior coatings are also offered, as well as bright signal paint for handles and hooks. Paint spray cans are provided for repair jobs in any colour or brightness.
CARGO-LAKK is a Hungarian-Swiss company that was originally a joint venture between W Mäder AG and Hungarian partners. In 1997, the company became CARGO-LAKK KFT.
