Qatar Railways Company has partnered with Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) to deploy QMIC’s Masarak platform and services to support rail operations, offering traffic monitoring, logistics management and road safety.
Under the partnership, QMIC will design, build, operate, and maintain a Logistics Transport Coordination Center (LTCC) at Qatar Rail’s premises to monitor various operations.
Intended to lower the impact of logistics operations on traffic flow in Doha, LTCC staff will deliver key services, intelligence and recommendations for any necessary actions.
Qatar Rail chief executive officer Saad Al-Muhannadi said: "Qatar Rail is striving to ensure the least amount of disruption to the traffic movement in Qatar during construction of the Doha Metro.
"As we have unique requirements in the areas of traffic monitoring, efficient logistics operations, and road safety, we are pleased to work with a local organisation to contribute to the creation of knowledge-based industries in Qatar through our adoption of the Masarak system and services."
The Masarak-enabled LTCC is scheduled to be complete and enter operational service later this year.
Following deployment, Qatar Rail will make use of the Masarak platform and its integrated set of transport and logistics services and applications.
In order to monitor traffic conditions, coordinate and manage contractors’ fleets’ movement, traffic expert professionals will be hired to reduce traffic congestion, and promote road safety practises among all fleet drivers and stakeholders.
Qatar Rail and QMIC will also work together in the development of further capabilities and features to meet the evolving needs of the local market.
