Absopulse Electronics’ RSI 300 series railway quality, DC/AC inverter uses field proven topology to generate a 300VA pure sign wave output voltage. It meets all relevant railway standards including EN 50155, EN50121-3-2 conducted and radiated EMI, EN 55022 class B, and EN 61000 immunity.
This microprocessor-controlled high-frequency PWM design delivers 115Vac continuous at 60Hz or 400Hz, or 230VAC continuous at 50Hz, regulated to a maximum of +/-2% from no load to full load. It accepts supply voltages of 24VDC (14.4V – 34V range), 36VDC (22V – 51V range), 48VDC (29V – 67V range), 72VDC (43V – 101V range), 96VDC (58V – 135V range) or 110VDC (66V – 154V range). Other input and output values are available on request. An optional output fail alarm (form C) is also available for this design.
The RSI 300 unit operates over a -25°C to +50°C cold-plate temperature range without derating. Cooling is via baseplate to a heatsinking surface and by natural convection. High frequency conversion enables compact construction, low weight and high efficiency. The unit is housed in compact 153mm x 67mm x 357mm vented chassis-mount enclosures and weighs 2.2kg. Ruggedizing and conformal coating ensures resistance to shock and vibration (meets EN61373/IEC61373), moisture and airborne contaminants.
Low component count, large design headroom, and the use of components with established reliability result in a high MTBF. The unit has 3kVDC input to output isolation; it unit features full electronic protection including inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, output current limiting with short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown with automatic recovery in case of insufficient cooling.
