  • The systems manufacturer for rail vehicles is presenting ultramodern air spring systems for primary and secondary suspension
  • World’s only test lab for rail vehicle suspension systems that has been officially certified as independent

ContiTech Railway Engineering will be at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition 2013 (IREE) in New Delhi, India from 3-5 October. The manufacturer of spring systems for rail vehicles is exhibiting in hall 9, booth G2. ContiTech Railway Engineering’s presentation will focus on ultramodern air spring systems for secondary suspension and spring systems for primary suspension.

Among the exhibits will be an air spring system that is used by Bombardier in the Mumbai Metro. MEGI® brand hydraulic springs, conical springs, and buffers will also be on display to the trade public.

ContiTech has been OEM supplier for the Indian railway company’s passenger cars since as early as 1997 and has supplied equipment to Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Rail Coach Factory (RCF), among others. Via its partner Resistoflex, the company has been supplying air spring systems for modernizing the cars and power cars used on the Mumbai metro system since 2006.

"With our partner Resistoflex, a leader in the Indian market, we have a highly advantageous position at the local level and can fill such orders reliably," reports Friedrich Hoppmann, head of the ContiTech Railway Engineering segment.

To ensure close proximity to the customer, ContiTech Railway Engineering started operations at a new production site near Sonepat in 2010. The plant is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2008. This globally recognized standard defines a quality management system required by many manufacturers of rail vehicles.

Bombardier Transportation audited the plant. In addition, plant certification has been applied for from the Indian railway authority, RDSO, so that production of individual components for the Indian state railway can be transferred from Germany to India.

ContiTech Railway Engineering has at its disposal the world’s only test lab for rail vehicle air spring systems in Hanover, Germany, underlining its high quality standards. Twelve testing procedures that are important for the rail industry have been accredited to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025.

With certification to ISO 9001, TS 16949, and IRIS, the test laboratory has been fulfilling top requirements for many years. What is more, ContiTech Railway Engineering offers its customers comprehensive service. This includes global availability of the products, the tight dealer and service network as well as customer-specific solutions. A global dealer network allows replacement parts to be provided rapidly for the purpose of repair work. ContiTech uses its own employees as well as dealers for this; together with their teams, they can get anywhere in the world within a very short space of time.

The company is constantly expanding this network and regularly provides further training to engineers. And the service goes even further than this: ContiTech provides customers with complete suspension construction kits. They contain all the components required for completely equipping bogies with suspension comfort. This makes the logistics much easier for the customer, and means that no components are ever found to be missing.
