Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that the construction of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Woodlands North station has started with a ground-breaking ceremony.
The station will become the Singapore terminus of the Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS link, a cross-border rail project connecting the neighbouring countries of Malaysia and Singapore.

The underground RTS Link Woodlands North station will feature three storeys with an underground linkway to the CIQ building. The station is expected to be nearly ten times the size of a typical MRT station.
In a statement, Singapore LTA said: “Ground conditions are expected to be challenging because it is a site of granite condition.
“Therefore, construction will involve the use of high-capacity drilling machines, extended piling works, as well as rock demolition during the excavation works.”
Additional precautionary measures will also be undertaken as the construction site is located near an operational MRT station.

By GlobalDataNotably, Penta-Ocean Construction was contracted in November last year to build the station and tunnels, as well as the CIQ building in Singapore.
This was the first of two civil contracts, the second of which is expected to be awarded in this quarter.
Once complete, the 4km-long RTS Link will stretch from Singapore terminus at Woodlands North station and the Malaysia terminus at Bukit Chagar station in Johor Bahru.
Slated to start operating at the end of 2026, the link will support the movement of up to 10,000 passengers an hour in each direction.
