The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) in Ohio, US, has introduced a free Wi-Fi network service within its vehicles, selected stations and transit centres.

As part of the initiative, the service is currently available in certain areas of Tower City Station, Cedar University Station, East 55th Station and Louis Stokes/Windermere Station.

It is also available in the interior lobby of Southgate Transit Center, and the interior lobby and first two bus lanes of Stephanie Tubbs Jones Transit Center.

RTA will offer the service in trolleys and buses on the CSU Line, HealthLine, and east side Hayden District from September.

These sites include the outdoor bus area and rail platforms of Cedar University Station, as well as Puritas-West 150th Station.

The RTA also plans to introduce the service at West 65th Station, West 117th Station, Brookpark Station, and Superior Station.

According to the agency, eight vehicles a day will initially come online, with buses from the Triskett District and Paratransit to be added later this year. It will offer the Wi-Fi service in railcars from January 2020.

In May, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) in the US started offering free Wi-Fi at 18 downtown Red and Blue Line station platforms.
