Network Rail has received approval for plans to build a railway station in East Durham in the UK.
The plan is developed in collaboration with Durham County Council and involves building a £10.55m railway station at Horden near Peterlee.

In November last year, the application to build the station was submitted to the planning department of the local council.
The overall project includes the construction of two 100m platforms connected by an accessible footbridge, shelters, a 139-space car park and adjacent bus stops.
The plan also includes creating an access road, footpath and cycleway.
Council leader Simon Henig said: “The new station will significantly improve transport links in the east of the county, providing a boost to the economy and widening employment opportunities for local residents.

Initial works are scheduled to commence in the following weeks, with the Horden station slated for completion next year.
The project is being funded by the council including a £4.4m contribution from the Department of Transport’s New Stations Fund and a grant North East Local Enterprise Partnership.
Rail Minster Andrew Jones said: “This is another success story for the government’s New Stations Fund and further demonstrates our commitment to delivering better journeys across the north.
“Alongside major investment in the £2.9bn Transpennine route upgrade and the £780m East Coast mainline upgrade, this new station will improve journey times and connections across the region.”
Once opened, the Horden station will connect the region with the local and regional national train network. According to rail industry projections, more than 70,000 passengers may use the station on South East View annually.
