The developer of the UK’s High Speed 2 project, HS2, has selected the design and engineering teams for the reconstruction of Euston station and delivery of new rail stations at Birmingham, Solihull and Old Oak Common.
WSP UK and Grimshaw Architects have won the contract to jointly develop the planned Birmingham Curzon Street station.

WSP will also be responsible for the development of the new Old Oak Common station in collaboration with Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
The new Birmingham Interchange will be designed by Ove Arup & Partners International, along with Arup Associates and Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
In addition, Ove Arup & Partners International and Grimshaw Architects have been contracted for the redevelopment of London Euston station.

The new HS2 stations will be designed with consultation from the associated communities, while following guidelines and specifications provided by an independent team of architects and designers.
The selected companies will be responsible for developing a people-centred design featuring shopping and business facilities within the stations, as well as enable future changes based on technology, population and requirement at a later date.
HS2 chief executive Mark Thurston said: “Our new stations in London and Birmingham will be at the heart of the first phase of the project, increasing capacity, improving journeys and helping to unlock opportunities for tens of thousands of new jobs and homes around what will be four new landmark buildings.”
The new stations are expected to open in 2026.
