"The contract covers the supply of 260 units of S200 SF LRVs, which will be delivered in phases."

The first LRV prototype will be delivered in December 2016 and the remaining units will be supplied between 2018 and 2030. The LRVs will replace the existing Breda trams.

The new LRVs will replace the existing Bredas trams on the Central Subway line, which will become operational in 2019. The line will extend the T-Third line from Caltrain station to Chinatown.

The project will have new underground stations at Moscone Centre and Union Square.

The new trains have efficient motors and lighter brakes when compared with the existing trams and due to its open design, cab operators will also be able to see pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers on the street.
