Hong Kong’s metro operator MTR is set to carry out improvements at Hung Hom Station, under the Shatin to Central Link (SCL) project.
The SCL comprises a 17km-long railway with ten stations and a new cross-harbour section.

As part of the project, MTR will build two new platform levels and a range of new and enhanced amenities at the station, where SCL’s east-west and north-south corridors will converge to improve passenger access.
MTR projects director Philco Wong said: "The Shatin to Central Link will be an important strategic railway for Hong Kong, connecting existing lines in different districts to facilitate easy travel all around the city.
"Hung Hom Station will be a key interchange station in the future, so our works there are closely focused on ensuring the comfort and convenience of our passengers’ journeys."
The station will also have the mid-level walkway between concourse and platform levels directly connected to the concourse by lifts and escalators to further improve access for commuters travelling between the station and the nearby Hung Hom, the Cross-Harbour
Tunnel Plaza and Tsim Sha Tsui areas.

Works on the modernisation of the station will begin in September.
