The electrification work will also be carried out on Køge-Naestved, Ringsted-Rødby and the new Copenhagen-Ringsted lines.
According to Banedanmark, the Aarsleff/Siemens JV has offered the most economical bid for the contract, beating offers from ASB consortium (Alstom, Bravida Danmark and SPL Powerlines), Strukton/Balfour Beatty and Obrascon Huarte Lain/TSO.
Banedanmark CEO Jesper Hansen said: "We have seen strong competition and good suggestions for such an important task, creating the framework for a far more modern railway."
