Trimble’s technology will be used to maintain fleets running on Stockholm Commuter lines and Norrtåg regional rail lines.

The deployment forms part of Euromaint Rail's wider remote vehicle monitoring (RVM) programme, and will provide a new condition-based maintenance strategy to improve the company's customer service.

Euromaint Rail CEO Ove Bergkvist said: “Our customers' continued excellence at meeting punctuality and safety standards is supported by Euromaint Rail providing high-quality maintenance and high levels of rolling stock availability.

“With the roll out of the Trimble R2M system to support our condition-based maintenance strategy as part of the RVM programme, we will be working hard to ensure that the standard of our service to customers continues to improve.”

The introduction of Trimble R2M real-time remote diagnostic system will facilitate the company’s RVM programme and improve overall fleet availability objectives.

The RVM programme will be used to manage the maintenance of the Alstom Coradia (LIREX) trains, which are maintained by a joint venture comprising MTR and Euromaint Rail, Emtrain.

Trimble NCU control units will be fitted into the rolling stock under the initiative.

The NCU control units connect to multiple on-board train signals and systems in order to access condition data from vehicles without the need for train management systems.

Trimble's R2M uses this information to provide updated status information regarding the rolling stock and its component systems before its arrival at the maintenance depot. This prior knowledge enables faster and  more cost-effective maintenance operations.
